Local ratings for the Chicago Bulls have increased dramatically over last season. In other news, ratings have also climbed for the Atlanta Hawks, and nationally televised NBA games continue to decline.
Bulls Ratings Up 65% on CSN Chicago
- Comcast SportsNet Chicago averaged a 4.81 rating for Bulls games through the month of January, up 65% from last year (2.92). Keep in mind Bulls G Derrick Rose missed much of last season due to injury. The season average includes a 7.59 rating for Rockets/Bulls on January 5, the second-highest ever on CSN Chicago. Hawks Ratings Also Up Big
- Atlanta Hawks NBA games have averaged a 1.9 rating on SportSouth so far this season, up 73% from the comparable point last year (1.1), and up 29% from the season-to-date average before the Hawks’ 19-game winning streak. Monday’s streak-ending loss to the Pelicans drew a 4.7 rating, the highest for a regular season Hawks game on the network. (foxsports.com)
More Declines For NBA on National TV
- Saturday’s Clippers/Spurs NBA regular season game drew 1.7 million viewers on ESPN, down 36% from Heat/Knicks last year (2.6M). The previous night, ESPN drew 1.2 million for Mavericks/Heat and 1.3 million for Bulls/Suns — down 30% and 9%, respectively, from last year’s Thunder/Nets (1.7M) and Warriors/Jazz (1.4M) games. The last 12 nationally televised NBA games (excluding NBA TV) have had year-over-year declines in viewership. (via ShowBuzz Daily)
