ESPN Exec Doria Retiring
- ESPN senior vice president and director of news Vince Doria is retiring effective Friday, ending a 23-year tenure with the company. Doria has overseen ESPN’s news operations since 1993, excluding a two-year stretch when he served as executive producer for ESPN Classic. His departure, which was announced more than a year ago, comes weeks after the retirements of fellow ESPN executives Al Jaffe and John Walsh. (ESPN Front Row)
NBC Extends Contract With McHugh
- NBC Sports has agreed to a contract extension with NHL and Notre Dame host Liam McHugh through 2020, Sports Illustrated reported earlier this week. McHugh has been with NBC Sports since Comcast acquired NBC Universal in 2011, having joined NBCSN precursor Versus the previous year. (SI.com)
NBC Names Ali, Flores, Analysts For PBC
- Professional boxers Laila Ali and B.J. Flores have joined NBC Sports as corner analysts for the Premier Boxing Champions series. Ali previously worked for NBC as analyst during the 2012 Summer Olympics, and Flores has served as analyst for Fight Night on NBCSN and ESPN’s Friday Night Fights.
