Airing in the weekend’s plum timeslot, Duke/Gonzaga was the top Elite Eight game of the past decade.
The Duke/Gonzaga NCAA Tournament Elite Eight game drew a 9.9 overnight rating on CBS Sunday evening, up 10% from Kentucky/Michigan last year (9.0), up 5% from Louisville/Duke in 2013 (9.4), and the highest for any Elite Eight game since Kentucky/Michigan State in 2005 (10.8).
The only game to earn as high an overnight since 2005 was Duke/Baylor in 2010.
It goes without saying that the Blue Devils’ win was the top telecast of Elite Eight weekend, topping Kentucky/Notre Dame on TBS (9.0). Keep in mind that the Duke game had a much better timeslot (Sunday evening on broadcast) than did the Kentucky game (Saturday night on cable).
Sunday’s overnight peaked at a 12.8 from 7-7:15 PM ET.
