While Kentucky/Notre Dame was the main event, Wisconsin/Arizona provided a solid appetizer for TBS Saturday evening.
The Wisconsin/Arizona NCAA Tournament Elite Eight game drew a 5.7 overnight rating on TBS Saturday evening, up 24% from Florida/Dayton last year (4.6) and up 21% from Syracuse/Marquette in 2013 (4.7). The telecast nearly matched last year’s meeting between the teams, which aired in the late window (5.9).
Including the Kentucky/Notre Dame nightcap (9.0), Saturday’s Elite Eight coverage averaged a 7.3 overnight on TBS — the highest for the day since 2005 (8.1).
Through Saturday, NCAA Tournament coverage has averaged a combined 7.1 overnight on CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV. Not only is that an 11% increase over last year, it represents the highest tournament-to-date average since the current scheduling format began in 1991.
