Ratings for pro golf’s annual stop at Doral were the second-lowest since NBC began airing the event in 1999.
Final round coverage of the WGC-Cadillac Championship from Doral drew a 2.2 final rating and 3.3 million viewers on NBC, down 21% in ratings and viewership from last year (2.8, 4.2M), and down 41% and 40%, respectively, from Tiger Woods’ victory in 2013 (3.7, 5.5M).
The 2.2 rating is the second-lowest for final round coverage of the tournament at Doral (the WGC-Cadillac Championship since 2007 and the PGA Tour Ford Championship previously) since NBC began airing the event in 1999. Only in 2010 did final round coverage earn a lower rating (1.9).
A decade ago, final round coverage at Doral drew a 5.5 rating — still the highest since moving to NBC.
The 2.2 is also the fourth-lowest for the final round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship since it began in 1999, ahead of only 2010, 2006 (1.9) and 2004 (1.3). Prior to moving to Doral in 2007, the event took place in the fall and aired on ABC.
Third round coverage on Saturday drew a 1.5 and 2.0 million, down 21% in ratings and 23% in viewership from last year (1.9, 2.6M) and down 35% and 41%, respectively, from 2013 (2.3, 3.4M). The 1.5 is the lowest for third round coverage at Doral since 2011 (1.4) and the third-lowest since NBC began airing coverage in 1999.
