Despite not featuring an American TV market, the Canadiens/Senators series scored strong numbers for NBCSN over the weekend.
Game 3 of the Canadiens/Senators Stanley Cup playoff series drew 835,000 viewers on NBCSN Sunday night, easily the top audience of the postseason on cable (21 telecasts through Tuesday). No other game has cracked the 800,000 viewer mark.
Keep in mind the Canadiens’ win had arguably the best timeslot of the postseason — 8 PM ET on a Sunday, unopposed by any other games.
Ranking second for the postseason, Monday’s Rangers/Penguins Game 3 drew 719,000 viewers on NBCSN — up 16% from Penguins/Blue Jackets last year (618K). Blackhawks/Predators Game 2 (652K), Penguins/Rangers Game 1 (597K) and Blackhawks/Predators Game 1 (586K) round out the top five.
