Overnight ratings held steady for the latest edition of the NHL on NBC. In other news, the Premier League returned to NBC with an uptick in overnights, and ESPN scored a big increase in viewership for Friday’s Thunder/Grizzlies game.
Overnights Flat For Penguins/Flyers on NBC
- The Penguins/Flyers NHL regular season game drew a 0.9 overnight rating on NBC, even with Blues/Blackhawks last year (0.9) and up 29% from Blues/Red Wings in 2013 (0.7). Huge Increase For ESPN’s Thunder/Grizzlies, With Caveat
- Friday’s Thunder/Grizzlies NBA regular season game drew 1.4 million viewers on ESPN, up 72% from Nuggets/Grizzlies last year (800K), up 10% from Heat/Bobcats in 2013 (1.3M), and the season’s biggest year-over-year increase for a non-Cavaliers game. Keep in mind last year’s comparable game was the least-watched of the season on ESPN/ABC or TNT. The Blazers/Lakers nightcap drew 1.3 million, down 23% from Thunder/Rockets last year (1.7M) but up 16% from Rockets/Blazers in 2013 (1.2M). (via ShowBuzz Daily)
