After a rain-fueled dip the previous week, MLB on FOX bounced back on Saturday.
Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.6 final rating and 2.5 million viewers last Saturday night, up 14% in ratings and 13% in viewership from the network’s third primetime telecast last year (1.4, 2.2M), but down 16% and 20%, respectively, from the third such telecast in 2013 (1.9, 3.1M).
The telecast marked the second time in three tries this season that FOX has had a double-digit increase in ratings and viewership. It was also the network’s second telecast to earn at least 2.4 million viewers — a mark it surpassed just once all of last season.
The solid performance came despite strong competition from the Stanley Cup Final on NBC (3.9, 6.5M). In the past ten head-to-head meetings between MLB on FOX and the Stanley Cup Playoffs — all in primetime — the NHL has earned the larger audience each time.
