FOX had another solid increase in overnight ratings for Major League Baseball coverage.
Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.6 overnight rating Saturday night, up 14% from the network’s fourth primetime telecast last year (1.4) but down 16% from the fourth such telecast in 2013 (1.9).
Three of the four MLB on FOX windows this year have had an increase in overnights, with the caveat that last year’s numbers provided a low bar to clear. Each telecast has trailed 2013, though one of the four did end up with an increase in the final tally.
Saturday’s telecast faced competition from Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on NBC (3.8), marking the fourth straight week that MLB on FOX aired opposite the NHL playoffs. Dating back to 2013, the NHL has won 10 of the 11 primetime head-to-head meetings with MLB on FOX.
