The season’s final primetime MLB telecast on FOX scored solid numbers in the metered markets.
Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.8 overnight rating according to Sports Business Daily and a 2.2 according to ShowBuzz Daily. The two industry sites usually do not differ by such a wide margin. Either way, the overnight is at least tied as the highest of the season on FOX and tops last year’s comparable 1.6.
Saturday marked the first time this season that the Yankees and Red Sox have played each other on FOX. Last year, the network earned a 2.3 overnight for primetime coverage featuring the teams.
Three of the seven primetime windows on FOX topped a 1.7 overnight, compared to just one of eight such telecasts last year. That still pales in comparison to two years ago, when seven of the eight telecasts topped the 1.7 mark.
