- Univision Deportes Network earned 890,000 viewers for last Sunday’s Tigres/Guadalajara Liga MX Apertura match, its largest audience ever for a regular season telecast (excluding simulcasts). The match outdrew all-but-one of the opening weekend English Premier League telecasts, trailing only Swansea City/Chelsea on the NBC broadcast network (1.0M). Liga MX Apertura coverage has averaged 327,000 on UDN thus far, up 49% from last year. (Univision)
Second-Straight Surge For Breeders Cup Challenge
- Last Saturday’s Breeders Cup Challenge Whitney Handicap drew a 0.7 final rating and 994,000 viewers on NBC, up 40% in ratings and 41% in viewership from last year (0.5, 705K) and up a tick and 19%, respectively, from 2013 (0.6, 834K). The race was the second in a row to have a substantial increase, coming one week after Triple Crown winner American Pharoah lifted the Haskell Invitational by 86% in ratings and 102% in viewership. - The Pirates/Cardinals Wednesday Night Baseball game scored 760,000 viewers on ESPN, the third-largest audience for a Wednesday night game this season (18 telecasts).
