The SEC on CBS was not much of a draw in week two of the season.
The Georgia/Vanderbilt college football game drew a 1.8 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, tied as the network’s lowest overnight for an SEC game since a Noon ET Arkansas/South Carolina matchup in November 2012 (1.7). The 1.8 is the lowest for the primary 3:30 PM SEC on CBS window since Mississippi State/Arkansas in November 2011 (1.6).
The Bulldogs’ win was more-than-doubled head-to-head by Notre Dame/Virginia on ABC (3.9), but trounced Iowa/Iowa State on FOX (1.0).
Georgia/Vanderbilt was the second early season SEC telecast CBS added to its schedule this season. The first, Louisville/Auburn in week one, had a 2.6 overnight. Prior to this year, CBS typically began its SEC coverage in week three of the season to accommodate U.S. Open tennis.
