Ratings and viewership sank by double-digits for the Jets’ Monday night win over the Colts.
The Week 2 Jets/Colts Monday Night Football game drew an 8.1 final rating and 12.5 million viewers on ESPN, down 12% in ratings and 16% in viewership from Eagles/Colts last year (9.2, 14.9M) and down 11% and 13%, respectively, from Bengals/Steelers in 2013 (9.1, 14.3M)
The Jets’ win ranks as the lowest rated and least-watched MNF telecast in Week 2 of the season since Rams/Giants in 2011 (7.8, 11.9M).
The year-over-year declines were more pronounced in the key adults 18-49 demographic. The game had a 4.7 rating in the demo, down 19% from last year (5.8) and down 20% from 2013 (5.9).
Of note, both of the Monday Night Football games called by Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden this season have had a lower rating and fewer viewers than the one called by the much-panned team of Chris Berman and Trent Dilfer.
