Two star-studded, high-profile teams meeting in an NFC Championship rematch delivered big numbers for NBC.
The Week 2 Seahawks/Packers NFL Sunday Night Football game drew a 15.1 final rating and 26.4 million viewers on NBC, up 16% in ratings and 18% in viewership from Bears/49ers last year (13.0, 22.3M), and up 24% and 29%, respectively, from 49ers/Seahawks in 2013 (12.2, 20.5M).
The Packers’ win ranks as the most-watched primetime NFL game in Week 2 of the season since Washington/Cowboys on ABC in 1991. It is also tied as the highest rated in Week 2 since Cowboys/Falcons in 1999 (15.2), matching Giants/Cowboys in 2009.
All three NFL games on NBC this season have topped a 15.0 rating and 26.0 million viewers, compared to four such games all of last year. NBC has now averaged a 15.5 rating and 26.8 million viewers through Week 2, up 9% in ratings and 10% in viewership from last year, and the largest average audience for an NFL primetime package at this point of the season since 1993 (28.3M).
Sunday’s adults 18-49 rating was not immediately available, but NBC is averaging a 10.0 in the demographic — up 8% from last year.
