For the first time all season, the SEC on CBS was college football’s top draw of the week.
The Tennessee/Florida college football game drew a 3.2 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, down 37% from Florida/Alabama last year (5.1) but up 7% from the same Tennessee/Florida matchup in 2013 (3.0).
The Gators’ comeback win was the highest rated college football telecast of the week in the metered markets, topping the second-place finisher — regional coverage on ABC featuring Western Michigan/Ohio State — head-to-head (2.8). It also topped ABC’s Saturday Night Football game, which was the site of ESPN’s College Gameday, by a full point (3.2 to 2.2).
In a soft season thus far for the SEC on CBS, Saturday’s 3.2 ranks as the network’s highest overnight yet (four telecasts). The previous high was a 2.7 for Auburn/LSU the week before.
