CBS scored one of its lowest SEC ratings in recent years last weekend.
Last Saturday’s Georgia/Vanderbilt college football game drew a 1.7 final rating and 2.5 million viewers on CBS, the network’s lowest rated and least-watched SEC telecast since the same matchup in October 2013 (1.5, 2.4M). That game aired at Noon ET.
There was no comparable game last year, as CBS had U.S. Open commitments.
Head-to-head, the Bulldogs’ win was more-than-doubled by the Notre Dame/Virginia game on ABC (3.7, 5.7M), but topped Iowa/Iowa State on FOX (1.1, 1.8M).
Georgia/Vanderbilt was one of two early season SEC games CBS sub-licensed from ESPN, additions made possible by CBS’ loss of U.S. Open rights. Louisville/Auburn was the first, earning a 2.4 and 4.0 million the previous week. Last year’s SEC games on CBS averaged a 4.0 rating, though that figure includes the SEC Championship game and a primetime contest.
