The Cubs again delivered big numbers for TBS, but Dodgers/Mets was the top game of the night.
Game 4 of the Dodgers/Mets National League Division Series drew a 4.8 overnight rating on TBS Tuesday night, up 55% from Giants/Nationals on Fox Sports 1 last year (3.1) and the top overnight of this year’s LDS. The Dodgers’ series-tying win had a 13.5 rating in New York and an 8.9 in Los Angeles.
The game did well despite tough competition from the Democratic presidential debate, which drew an 11.2 overnight rating on CNN.
Dodgers/Mets had a substantial lead-in from Game 4 of the Cardinals/Cubs series. The Cubs’ series-clincher drew a 4.2 overnight rating, up 75% from Dodgers/Cardinals on FS1 last year (2.4) and the second-highest overnight of the LDS. The game had a 22.9 rating in St. Louis and a 21.4 in Chicago, both down from Game 3, which aired in a later timeslot.
While Cubs/Cardinals has been the highest rated LDS thus far, Dodgers/Mets has actually scored a higher overnight rating on three of the four nights both series have played. Keep in mind Dodgers/Mets features the nation’s top two markets, and as such may be disproportionately strong in the metered markets.
