Sunday’s makeshift NFL doubleheader on CBS scored an increase in overnight ratings.
The Week 4 NFL singleheader window drew a 10.4 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 27% from last year (8.2), up 11% from 2013 (9.4), and tied as the highest for the window in Week 4 of the season since 2011 (14.9).
The 10.4 overnight is a season-low for the singleheader window (four telecasts), but the 27% increase is easily a season-high. The telecast benefited from a stronger-than-usual lead-in, live NFL action from London.
The Jets/Dolphins NFL International Series game, which began at 9:30 AM ET, had a 7.2 overnight rating — up 9% from Lions/Falcons in Week 8 last year, the only other 9:30 AM start in NFL history (6.6). That game aired on FOX.
The 7.2 is the lowest overnight of the NFL season thus far, which was to be expected given the start time.
