Viewership went in opposite directions for a pair of NHL games on NBCSN this week. In other news, ESPN’s 30 For 30 had a double-digit bump, and NASCAR’s Xfinity Series had another decline.
Mixed Numbers For NHL on NBCSN This Week
- Wednesday’s Flyers/Bruins NHL regular season game had 530,000 viewers on NBCSN, down 20% from Flyers/Penguins last year (659K) and up 15% from Rangers/Capitals in 2013 (461K). The previous night, Stars/Flyers drew 289,000 viewers — up 124% from Flyers/Blackhawks last year (129K) and up 45% from Sharks/Blues in 2013 (199K).
Viewership Bump For ESPN’s 30 For 30

Another Week, Another Drop For NASCAR Xfinity Series
- NASCAR Xfinity Series racing from Kansas drew 971,000 viewers on NBCSN Saturday afternoon, down 37% from last year (1.5M) and down 40% from 2013 (1.6M), both of which aired on ESPN with a college football lead-in. Excluding rainouts, the race ranks as the fourth-least watched of the season — with NBCSN having aired 10 of the bottom 11.
