A lean week in the SEC led to low numbers for ESPN’s Saturday night window.
The Mississippi State/Arkansas college football game drew a 1.0 overnight rating on ESPN Saturday night, down 62% from Auburn/Georgia last year (2.6), down 60% from Alabama/Mississippi State in 2013 (2.5), and ESPN’s lowest overnight of the season in the window. The previous mark was a 1.5 for Arizona/Texas A&M in week one.
Head-to-head, the Bulldogs’ high-scoring win trailed Baylor/Oklahoma State on FOX (2.8), TCU/Oklahoma on ABC (2.7) and even Boston College/Notre Dame on NBCSN (1.3).
The California/Stanford nightcap had a 1.4 overnight, even with Arizona State/Oregon State last year.
Earlier in the day, North Carolina/Virginia Tech drew a 1.5 overnight in the Noon ET window — up 15% from Clemson/Georgia Tech last year (1.3) and the top college game of the weekend on cable. USC/Oregon also had an increase, rising 35% despite competition from Michigan State/Ohio State on ABC.
