The Premier League was not as strong a draw as usual last weekend, but was still mostly up from last year.
Last Saturday’s Chelsea/Liverpool English Premier League match had 489,000 viewers on NBCSN, up 11% from the same matchup last year (441K) and the most-watched EPL telecast of the week. Liverpool’s win marked the first time all season that the top EPL match of the week had fewer than 500,000 viewers.
Later in the morning, Crystal Palace/Manchester United scored 382,000 — up 5% from Southampton/Leicester City last year (363K) but down 14% from Chelsea/West Brom in 2013 (446K). USA Network drew 251,000 for the concurrent Swansea City/Arsenal match, bringing the combined total in the window to 633,000.
Everton/Sunderland scored 395,000 on Sunday, up 10% from Tottenham/Stoke City last year (360K) but down 5% from Sunderland/Manchester City in 2013 (416K). Southampton/Bournemouth was the week’s lone match to decline, earning 416,000 later in the morning on USA — down 17% from Swansesa City/Arsenal last year (503K) and down 48% from Manchester United/Arsenal in 2013 (803K).
Rounding out the week eleven slate, Monday’s Tottenham/Aston Villa match had 171,000. There were no comparable matches in week eleven of last year or 2013.
