A Hail Mary thriller involving the Packers delivered one of the top Thursday Night Football overnights.
The Week 13 Packers/Lions Thursday Night Football game had a 12.0 overnight rating on CBS and NFL Network, up 35% from the networks’ final TNF simulcast last year — Chargers/49ers on a Saturday night in Week 16 (8.9). There was no TNF telecast in Week 13 of last season due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Green Bay’s last-second win, which peaked at a 13.6 from 11:30-11:45 PM ET, earned the sixth-highest overnight in the history of TNF (dating back to 2006). Keep in mind only sixteen TNF telecasts have aired on a broadcast network.
The eight TNF telecasts on CBS and NFL Network averaged a 12.1 rating in the metered markets, up 9% from last year (11.1). Including the three games on NFL Network exclusively, TNF has averaged a 10.6, up 15% from last year (9.2).
