Two of the higher-profile Premier League teams gave NBC a boost in viewership last weekend.
Last Saturday’s Liverpool/Tottenham English Premier League match scored a 0.7 final rating and 978,000 viewers on NBC, up a tick in ratings and 35% in viewership from Burnley/Arsenal last year (0.6, 723K) and up 40% and 38%, respectively, from Arsenal/Manchester City on NBCSN in 2014 (0.5, 708K).
As is usually (though not always) the case for matches on NBC, the match was the top Premier League telecast of the week.
Earlier in the day, Arsenal/Watford had 430,000 on NBCSN — up a fraction of a percent from Tottenham/Aston Villa last year (428K) but down 24% from Crystal Palace/Chelsea in 2014 (568K). The concurrent Norwich City/Newcastle match on USA Network had 217,000, bringing the combined total in the window to 647,000.
Aston Villa/Chelsea started the morning with 317,000 on NBCSN, up 22% from Swansea City/Everton last year (260K) but down 41% from Manchester City/Aston Villa in 2014 (534K).
Shifting to Sunday, Manchester United/Everton scored 537,000 in the late morning window — down an unsurprising 53% from last year’s Manchester Derby (1.1M) and also down 16% from Liverpool/Tottenham in 2014 (640K). Despite the declines, it was the week’s top match on cable.
Leicester City/Southampton rounds out last week’s action with 429,000, up a fraction of a percent from Queens Park/Chelsea last year (427K) and up 36% from Fulham/Everton in ’14 (316K).
