The league-leading Cubs gave FOX a slight bump in its MLB season opener.
Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.6 overnight rating Saturday night, up a tick from the network’s first window last year (1.5) and up a third from its first telecast in 2014 (1.2). Coverage featured Cubs/Giants in most of the country.
The 1.6 is the highest for the season debut of MLB on FOX since 2013, the last time it started coverage in the first week of the season (2.3).
Head-to-head, MLB on FOX trailed the Blues/Sharks NHL playoff game on NBC (1.7), NASCAR’s All-Star Race on Fox Sports 1 (1.7) and the Cavaliers/Raptors NBA playoff game on ESPN (4.2).
