Another rout led to another low overnight rating for the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals.
Game 2 of the Raptors/Cavaliers NBA Eastern Conference Finals had a 4.4 overnight rating on ESPN Thursday night, down 21% from Rockets/Warriors last year (5.6) and down 25% from Heat/Pacers in 2014 (5.9).
Compared to Game 2 of last year’s Cavaliers/Hawks ECF on TNT, which aired on a low-rated Friday night, overnights dipped 4% from a 4.6.
The Cavaliers’ blowout win tied the lowest overnight for a Game 2 in the conference finals since Grizzlies/Spurs in 2013 (3.8), matching Thunder/Spurs the following year. Tuesday’s series opener also hit a three-year low in the metered markets.
Though down from previous years, the 4.4 tied the highest mark of the playoffs for an Eastern Conference game — matching Heat/Raptors Game 7 on ABC last Sunday.
