With the United States facing elimination from Copa America, Fox Sports 1 earned its largest men’s soccer audience yet.
Saturday’s United States/Paraguay Copa America group play match earned 2.1 million viewers on Fox Sports 1, the largest audience ever for a men’s soccer telecast on the network. The previous high was set just days earlier by USA/Costa Rica in the same tournament (1.6M).
Prior to Copa America, the record for men’s soccer on the network was just shy of 1.6 million for last year’s USA/Mexico CONCACAF Cup. Regardless of gender, its top soccer audience remains 4.7 million for USA/Colombia in last year’s Women’s World Cup.
Spanish-language viewership on Univision was not immediately available. Univision typically attracts more viewers than FS1, even for matches involving the USA.
All three USA Copa America matches have had at least 1.5 million viewers on FS1. The network averaged 1.0 million for USA group play matches in last year’s Gold Cup.
