While the numbers remained fairly lackluster, MLB on FOX finished just shy of its largest audience in three years last weekend.
Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.8 final rating and 2.9 million viewers last Saturday night, up 29% in ratings and 30% in viewership from last year (1.4, 2.2M) and up 29% and 32%, respectively, from the network’s fourth telecast in 2014 (1.4, 2.2M).
It was the second-most watched MLB on FOX telecast during the regular season since 2013, behind its final primetime window of last season (2.94M to 2.91M).
The relatively strong numbers came despite competition from ESPN’s O.J.: Made in America miniseries on ABC (2.3, 3.4M) and the United States/Paraguay Copa America match on Fox Sports 1 (1.0, 1.8M) and Univision (1.2, 2.1M).
MLB on FOX had a mere 0.6 rating in adults 18-49, the same as reruns of 48 Hours on CBS and American Ninja Warrior on NBC, but that was still the network’s highest demo rating of the season.
Later Saturday night, Fox Sports 1 scored 322,000 for Indians/Angels.
