Despite a second straight overtime, the Stanley Cup Final had a third straight drop in the metered markets.
Game 3 of the Penguins/Sharks Stanley Cup Final earned a 1.9 overnight rating on NBCSN Saturday night, down 34% from Lightning/Blackhawks last year (2.9) and down 24% from Kings/Rangers in 2014 (2.5). Those games took place on a Monday night.
The 1.9 is the lowest for a Game 3 in the Stanley Cup Final since Devils/Kings in 2012 (1.4), and tied Game 2 as the lowest for any game of the final since the same year.
The Sharks’ overtime win had a 28.2 rating in Pittsburgh, up 8% from Red Wings/Penguins Game 3 in 2009 (26.1). It scored a series-high 6.2 in the Bay Area, a record for the Sharks on the NBC family of networks.
