NBC Officially Adds ESPN’s Heather Cox
- NBC Sports has officially announced the hiring of ESPN sideline reporter Heather Cox, who will serve in the same capacity on the network’s new Thursday Night Football package. The Big Lead first reported the news in May. Cox, who had been with ESPN since 1994, will also contribute to Golf Channel and appear on other unspecified NBC Sports programming. She will make her debut during the Olympics, an event she has covered for NBC three previous times on loan from ESPN. (NBC Sports Group Press Box)
ESPN Names Kestecher Lead NBA Radio Voice
- ESPN has named Marc Kestecher the lead NBA play-by-play voice for ESPN Radio, replacing Trail Blazers-bound Kevin Calabro. Kestecher will work the NBA Finals alongside Hubie Brown, becoming the fourth radio voice for the event in the past six years. Previous voices Calabro and Mike Tirico departed for other jobs and longtime broadcaster Jim Durham passed away in 2012. (ESPN Media Zone)
ESPN SportsNation Host Moves to ESPN2
- ESPN SportsNation co-host Max Kellerman has been named a panelist on ESPN2’s morning show First Take, joining Stephen A. Smith and host Molly Qerim. Kellerman will depart his current role as SportsNation co-host on Friday and join First Take July 25. Now in his second stint with ESPN, Kellerman may be best known as the original host of Around the Horn — which he left after less than two years to launch his own short-lived show on Fox Spots Net.
