One of ESPN’s longest serving analysts is headed out the door.
ESPN NFL analyst Tom Jackson informed the network two weeks ago that he will not return this fall, Sports Illustrated reported Monday night, putting an end to his nearly three-decade run with the company. His departure was also reported by Pro Football Talk and was initially reported by the New York Daily News.
ESPN had no comment on Jackson’s departure when contacted by Sports Media Watch.
Jackson has been with ESPN since the network began airing NFL games in 1987, working alongside Chris Berman in each year of his tenure. Berman, as was reported earlier this year, is expected to leave ESPN’s NFL coverage at the end of the season.
According to SI.com, ESPN wanted Jackson to stay on through at least Berman’s departure.
