While ratings and viewership have fallen nearly across the board on the other networks, FOX is riding a hot streak to start the NFL season.
The Week 3 NFL singleheader window, featuring Washington/N.Y. Giants in 31% of markets or Lions/Packers in 21%, had an 11.1 final rating and 19.2 million viewers on FOX Sunday afternoon — up 3% in ratings and 5% in viewership from last year (10.8, 18.3M) but down 6% and 7%, respectively, from 2014 (11.8, 20.6M).
Ratings and viewership have now increased for all four NFL telecasts on FOX, compared just 1 of 15 windows on the other networks. Of note, only one of the four windows on FOX has increased over 2014.
Sunday’s telecast was highlighted by the individual matchup between Odell Beckham Jr. and Josh Norman, a rematch of their contentious meeting last year when Norman was with the Panthers. That game helped the Week 15 singleheader to a 14.5 and 25.0 million, the largest audience for the window on any network since at least 1997.
For the second straight week, the singleheader window pulled a higher rating and viewership than Thursday Night Football (10.6, 17.5M).
