NBC posted big declines for its Premier League coverage last week.
Last Saturday’s Everton/Middlesbrough English Premier League match earned a 0.4 final rating and 553,000 viewers on the NBC broadcast network, down 43% in ratings and 56% in viewership from Manchester United/Liverpool last year (0.7, 1.2M) and down a tick and 20%, respectively, from West Ham/Liverpool in 2014 (0.5, 693K).
Complete records for the Premier League on NBC were not immediately available, so it was not clear whether the match was the least-watched ever on the main broadcast network.
Earlier in the day, Manchester City/Bournemouth had a 0.3 and 398,000 on NBCSN — flat in ratings but down 12% in viewership from Crystal Palace/Manchester City last year (0.3, 454K). Compared to Arsenal/Aston Villa in 2014, ratings inched up a tick but viewership dropped 6% from a 0.2 and 423,000.
On Sunday, NBCSN scored a 0.3 (+4%) and 430,000 (+7%) for Tottenham/Sunderland, while CNBC had 234,000 for Crystal Palace/Stoke City (-32%) and 216,000 for Manchester City/Watford (no comparison).
Rounding out the week five action, last Friday’s Chelsea/Liverpool match had 292,000 viewers. Last year’s weekday match, West Ham/Newcastle on a Monday afternoon, had 211,000.
On a weekend when Major League Soccer received an NFL lead-in, none of the Premier League matches could come close to the 1.2 million who watched either Sporting K.C./Galaxy or Toronto F.C./Red Bulls on FOX Sunday afternoon.
