Another Alabama rout of a top ten opponent delivered season-high figures for CBS.
Texas A&M/Alabama drew 8.5 million viewers on the SEC on CBS last weekend, up 21% from Tennessee/Alabama last year (7.0M), up 101% from Texas A&M/Alabama in 2014 (4.2M), and the largest CFB audience on CBS this season. The previous high was 8.2 million for Alabama/Mississippi in week three.
It was also the highest rated game of the season on on CBS, edging past Alabama/Mississippi (5.05 to 4.97) and up 18% from last year (4.27).
Regardless of network, the Tide’s win ranks fourth for the season behind Ohio State/Wisconsin the previous week (5.2, 9.0M), Louisville/Clemson in week five (5.5, 9.3M) and Notre Dame/Texas on Labor Day weekend (6.4, 10.9M), each of which aired on ABC.
As goes without saying, Alabama/Texas A&M was the top college football telecast of last weekend — ranking comfortably ahead of second-place Ohio State/Penn State on ABC (3.3, 6.5M). The SEC on CBS has topped the charts in four of the past six weeks.
