It was one of the top college football games ever on FS1, but Texas/Oklahoma sank to its lowest point since at least the 1990s.
Last Saturday’s Texas/Oklahoma college football game earned a 1.7 final rating and 2.8 million viewers on Fox Sports 1, up 750% in ratings and 1,081% in viewership from Baylor/Kansas last year (0.2, 236K) and up 467% and 446%, respectively, from Iowa State/Oklahoma State in 2014 (0.3, 511K).
The Sooners’ win earned the second-largest college football audience ever on FS1, behind only Michigan/Utah on the opening night of last season (2.9M).
Though big for FS1, Saturday’s game was the least-watched matchup between Texas and Oklahoma since at least 1998. Ratings and viewership dropped 48% and 44%, respectively, from last year’s edition on broadcast network ABC (3.3, 5.0M).
In other action, the FOX broadcast network pulled a 1.1 and 1.8 million for Washington’s primetime shellacking of Oregon — down 39% in ratings and 34% in viewership from TCU/Kansas State last year (1.8, 2.8M) and down 21% and 20%, respectively, from Arizona State/USC in 2014 (1.4, 2.3M).
FS1 closed out the night with a 0.2 and 350,000 for Arizona/Utah; there was no comparable window last year or in 2014.
