With Alabama playing a close game on CBS, few viewers caught Ohio State making mince meat of Nebraska.
Nebraska/Ohio State earned a 2.8 final rating and 5.0 million viewers on ABC’s Saturday Night Football over the weekend, up a tick in ratings and 5% in viewership from Minnesota/Ohio State last year (2.7, 4.7M) and up a third and 37%, respectively, from regional action featuring Illinois/Ohio State in 2014 (2.1, 3.6M).
Though up from the past couple of years, the Buckeyes’ 59-point beatdown was one of the weakest draws on Saturday Night Football this season — ranking ahead of only Stanford/UCLA in week three (2.4, 3.8M) and USC/Stanford the week before that (1.8, 2.9M).
As one would expect, Saturday’s game more-than-doubled head-to-head by Alabama/LSU on CBS, which had a 5.8 and 10.4 million.
Earlier in the day, regional action had a 1.7 and 2.6 million — down 64% in ratings and 66% in viewership from last year’s much-hyped game between Florida State and Clemson (4.7, 7.6M) and also down 37% and 41%, respectively, from another regional window in 2014 (2.7, 4.4M).
Wisconsin/Northwestern started things off with a 1.6 and 2.4 million, down 36% in ratings and 38% in viewership from Notre Dame/Pittsburgh last year (2.5, 3.8M). There was no comparable window in ’14.
