Two of the NFL’s traditional powers delivered big numbers on FOX Sunday.
The Week 10 NFL national window, featuring Cowboys/Steelers in 92% of markets, had a 17.8 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — down 3% from Patriots/Giants on CBS last year (18.3) but up 14% from coverage featuring Giants/Seahawks on FOX in 2014 (15.6).
The 17.8 is the highest NFL overnight of the season, topping the previous mark of 17.4 for coverage featuring Cowboys/Packers in Week 6. FOX has aired the three highest rated windows in the metered markets, with each featuring the Cowboys.
Even with the big numbers, Sunday’s telecast marked the eighth time in ten weeks that the NFL national window has declined from last year. The 3% decline is slim enough that the final ratings could still eke out an increase.
Earlier in the day, regional action featuring Falcons/Eagles in 44% of markets or Packers/Titans in 18% had a 10.4 overnight — up 2% from last year on CBS (10.2) and up 4% from coverage on FOX in 2014 (10.0).
