ABC was the beneficiary of a pair of top three upsets on Saturday.
Michigan/Iowa scored a 4.0 overnight rating on the latest edition of ABC’s Saturday Night Football, down 5% from both Oklahoma/Baylor last year and Ohio State/Michigan State in 2014 (4.2 for each), but the top college football telecast of the weekend.
Iowa’s upset of the #2 Wolverines, which peaked at a 6.2 from 11:15-11:30 PM ET, ranked comfortably ahead of the competing USC/Washington game on FOX (3.1).
Earlier in the day, Pittsburgh/Clemson had a 3.3 overnight — down a tick from regional action last year (3.4) and down 6% from Notre Dame/Arizona State in 2014 (3.5). The Panthers’ upset of the #3 Tigers, which peaked at a 5.4 from 7-7:15 PM, ranked second for the weekend.
ABC opened its tripleheader with a 2.4 for regional action, down 14% from Ohio State/Illinois last year (2.8). There was no comparable window in 2014.
