FOX pulled solid numbers for the NFL singleheader window despite a modest year-over-year decline.
The Week 9 NFL singleheader window, featuring either Cowboys/Browns in 31% of markets or Eagles/Giants in 25%, had an 11.6 final rating and 20.2 million viewers on FOX Sunday afternoon — down 7% in ratings and 4% in viewership from coverage featuring Packers/Panthers last year (12.5, 20.9M) and down 12% and 9%, respectively, from coverage featuring Cardinals/Cowboys in 2014 (13.2, 22.3M).
Despite the multi-year low, Sunday’s telecast ranks as the highest rated and most-watched singleheader of the season on any network (ten telecasts). The previous highs were an 11.1 and 19.2 million in Week 3.
It also ranked second for the weekend among NFL games, narrowly behind the NFL national window in ratings (11.7 to 11.6) and viewership (20.157M to 20.152M). It was the second singleheader this season to top Sunday Night Football, ranking comfortably ahead of NBC’s Broncos/Raiders game (10.4, 18.3M).
