A rough season for Notre Dame now includes the team’s lowest ever rating on NBC.
NBC earned a 1.0 final rating and 1.5 million viewers for last Saturday’s Army/Notre Dame Shamrock Series game, down 23% in ratings and 22% in viewership from Wake Forest/Notre Dame last year (1.3, 1.9M) and down 44% and 49%, respectively, from Northwestern/Notre Dame in 2014 (1.8, 3.0M).
Compared to last year’s Shamrock Series game between Notre Dame and Boston College, which aired on NBCSN, ratings fell 9% (from 1.1) and viewership 24% (from 2.0M).
Last week’s game ranks as the lowest rated Notre Dame telecast ever on the NBC family of networks, falling below the previous mark of 1.1 for three separate games — Boston College last year and Air Force and Navy in 2011.
Regardless of network, it was the lowest rated and least-watched Notre Dame game since a matchup with Purdue on ESPN five years ago (0.9, 1.4M).
