College football’s Mobile Bowl scored its largest audience in five years. In other news, the Armed Forces Bowl also hit a multi-year high, and the Bahamas Bowl was the least-watched yet.
Mobile Bowl Hits Five-Year High
- Friday’s Troy/Ohio Mobile Bowl had 2.5 million viewers on ESPN, up 7% from Georgia Southern/Bowling Green last year (2.4M) and up 84% from Toledo/Arkansas two seasons ago (1.4M). Ratings were not immediately available. The Trojans’ win ranks as the most-watched edition of the bowl since 2011 (2.6M).
Armed Forces Bowl Hits Four-Year High
- ESPN scored 2.3 million viewers for the Louisiana Tech/Navy Armed Forces Bowl Friday afternoon, up 24% from Cal/Air Force last year (1.9M) and up 11% from Houston/Pittsburgh two seasons ago (2.1M). It was the most-watched edition of the game since 2012, when Rice/Air Force had 3.3 million.
Bahamas Bowl Least-Watched in Young History
- The Old Dominion/Eastern Michigan Bahamas Bowl had 1.4 million viewers on ESPN Friday afternoon, down 36% from Western Michigan/Middle Tennessee last year (2.1M), down 9% from Central Michigan/Western Kentucky in 2014 (1.5M), and the least-watched edition of the three-year-old game.
