With the defending NFC champions under .500 and overmatched, their once-attractive clash with the Seahawks put up weak numbers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
Panthers/Seahawks earned an 11.5 overnight rating on the Week 13 edition of NBC’s Sunday Night Football, down 6% from Colts/Steelers last year (12.2), down 13% from Broncos/Chiefs in 2014 (13.2) and the lowest SNF overnight in Week 13 of the season since Bears/Vikings in 2008 (11.1).
The Seahawks’ rout was the 13th of 17 NFL telecasts on NBC this season to post a decline in the overnights, including Thursday Night Football, and the 11th to hit a multi-year low.
Sunday’s game marked the fifth time this season that overnights have been the lowest since the 2000s.
Seattle was Sunday’s top market at a 46.2, nearly doubling second-place Charlotte (23.6) — no small feat given Seattle is a larger market. Portland ranked third with a 22.3, followed by Greensboro (18.1) and Richmond (17.3).
