NBC will end its NFL season with one extra edition of Sunday Night Football.
Sunday’s Steelers/Chiefs AFC Divisional Round game has been moved from 1 PM ET to 8:20 due to inclement weather in Kansas City, the NFL announced Friday. The 8:20 PM start will be the latest in modern NFL history for a Sunday playoff game, according to information obtained from Pro Football Reference. Coverage will remain on NBC.
The move created a four-and-a-half hour programming vacancy on NBC, which was to carry Football Night in America at 12 PM ET (now 7:30 PM) followed by the game. As a result, the network announced that it will simulcast the final hour of NBCSN’s Manchester United/Liverpool Premier League match at Noon, followed by a Flyers/Capitals NHL game at 1 PM and an hour-long episode of NFL Turning Point at 3:30.
NBC has had an NFL telecast pushed back before, though not during the postseason. In 2010, the network’s Vikings/Eagles game was pushed from Sunday night to Tuesday due to blizzard conditions in Philadelphia.
