FCS Championship Hits Multi-Year High
- Saturday’s James Madison/Youngstown State NCAA FCS national championship had 1.6 million viewers on ESPN2, up 16% from North Dakota State/Jacksonville State last year (1.35M), up 8% from North Dakota State/Illinois State in 2015 (1.44M), and the most-watched FCS title game in at least five years. The Dukes’ win had a 0.9 final rating, even with last year but down a tick from 2015 (1.0).
All-American Bowl Also Hits Multi-Year High
- The U.S. Army All-American Bowl scored 1.5 million viewers on NBC Saturday afternoon, up 14% from last year (1.4M), up 19% from 2015 (1.3M), and the largest audience for the event in three years (1.7M). The 1.0 final rating increased a tick from both last year and 2015.
PGA Tournament of Champions Down on Golf Channel, NBC
- Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Tournament of Champions delivered a 0.4 final rating and 608,000 viewers on Golf Channel Sunday afternoon, down a tick in ratings and 24% in viewership from last year (0.5, 797K) but up a tick and 49% respectively from 2015, when the final round took place on a Monday (0.3, 409K). Coverage on NBC earlier in the day had a 0.8 and 1.3 million; the network did not air final round coverage last year. On Saturday, third round action earned a 0.8 (-4%) and 1.2 million (-3%) on NBC and a 0.25 (-32%) and 407,000 (-29%) on Golf Channel.
