Two of ESPN’s most prominent college basketball analysts are working an NBA game this week. In other news, ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter is set to make his NBA sideline debut and CBS Sports analyst Doug Gottlieb is reportedly headed to Fox Sports.
Vitale and Walton to Call NBA Game
- ESPN college basketball analysts Dick Vitale and Bill Walton will work Wednesday’s Pacers/Cavaliers NBA game, part of ESPN’s annual “The Crossover” in which college announcers work NBA games and vice versa. Vitale has not worked an NBA game since 2010 and Walton, once the lead NBA analyst for ESPN/ABC, last called NBA action for Comcast SportsNet in 2013. In addition to Vitale and Walton, “The Crossover” will feature Dan Dakich calling Knicks/Thunder, P.J. Carlesimo working Iowa State/Kansas State and Doug Collins calling Duke/Virginia. Schefter to Make NBA Debut Wednesday
- ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter will make his debut as an NBA sideline reporter on Wednesday’s above-mentioned Knicks/Thunder telecast. As previously reported earlier this year, Schefter will work select NBA games this season as part of his recently-signed ESPN contract extension. Schefter told SI.com that he is also expected to roam the sidelines for a Hawks/Wizards game next month. (SI.com 2.12)
Gottlieb Reportedly Headed to Fox Sports
- CBS Sports college basketball analyst and radio host Doug Gottlieb will move to Fox Sports 1, Sports Illustrated and the New York Post reported over the weekend. Gottlieb had been with CBS since leaving ESPN in 2012 and was a regular presence on the network’s NCAA coverage. (SI.com 2.12)
