Overnight ratings were pretty good for the PGA’s annual Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour at Pebble Beach scored a 2.9 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down 15% from last year (3.4) but up 12% from 2014 (2.6). The 2.9 is tied as the second-best for final round coverage since 2012, which featured a final pairing of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson (5.1).
Sunday’s 2.9 overnight was the second-highest of the weekend for any sporting event, trailing only the Warriors/Thunder NBA game on ABC the previous night (4.1). It comfortably topped competing coverage of the Spurs/Knicks game on ABC (2.3).
Despite the generally positive numbers, Pebble Beach was the second straight tournament to post a decline in final round overnights, coming after a 4% slip for the Phoenix Open the previous week.
On Saturday, third round action had a 1.9 overnight — an uptick from both last year and 2015. It was the tournament’s highest third round mark since 2012 (2.8).
