It scored the top non-football overnight of the weekend, but the PGA Phoenix Open could not avoid a fourth-straight decline in the metered markets.
Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Phoenix Open earned a 2.2 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, down a tick from last year on NBC (2.3), down 12% from 2015 on CBS (2.5), and the tournament’s lowest final round mark since 2010 (2.0).
Since hitting a 3.3 for Phil Mickelson‘s 2013 win, final round overnights have declined in each successive year.
Despite the five-year low, the 2.2 overnight was the highest of the weekend for a non-NFL sporting event. It topped the Cavaliers/Knicks NBA game on ABC the previous night (2.1), the only other non-NFL event with at least a 2.0.
On Saturday, third round overnights actually increased a tick from last year (1.6) and held steady with 2015.
