The New York Knicks were not ready for primetime.
Cavaliers/Knicks earned a 2.1 overnight rating on ABC’s NBA Saturday Primetime over the weekend, the fourth-lowest mark in the brief history of the series (11 telecasts). ABC did not air a game on the comparable night last year, but an ESPN-televised Thunder/Warriors game scored a 2.4.
The Cavaliers’ easy win trailed the previous Saturday Primetime games this season, Clippers/Warriors the week before (2.5) and the Spurs/Cavaliers two weeks earlier (2.6). Head-to-head, it had the same overnight as the competing NFL Honors awards show on FOX.
On Super Bowl Sunday, Clippers/Celtics scored a 1.6 overnight — the same as Clippers/Heat last year. The 1.6 is tied as the third-lowest for any NBA game on ABC since April 2011.
