Premier Boxing Champions returned to broadcast television with a slight bump in the overnights. In other news, the PGA’s Honda Classic was less of a draw for NBC, and Duke and Kentucky gave CBS a boost over the weekend.
Premier Boxing Champions Scores Uptick on FOX
- The latest edition of Premier Boxing Champions on FOX, featuring the Deontay Wilder–Gerald Washington heavyweight bout, had a 1.4 overnight rating Saturday night — up a tick from the network’s previous PBC telecast last July (1.3). The telecast topped competing coverage of the NHL Stadium Series on NBC (1.2) but trailed NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC (1.9).
Overnights Drop For PGA Honda Classic
- Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Honda Classic had a 2.2 overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, down 15% from last year (2.6) but up a tick from coverage in 2015 that featured both third and final round play (2.1). The 2.2 is the second-lowest for final round coverage of the tournament since 2011. On Saturday, third round action had a 1.3 — down 24% from last year (1.7) and the lowest third round overnight (excluding rainouts) since at least 2000.
Duke, Kentucky, Lead College Hoops Weekend on CBS
- Duke-Miami was the top college basketball game of the weekend in the metered markets, scoring a 1.6 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon — up 23% from Kentucky-Vanderbilt in the same slot last year (1.3) but down 20% from Arkansas-Kentucky in 2015 (2.0). Florida-Kentucky had a 1.5 earlier in the afternoon (+25%) and SMU-Connecticut started the day off with a 0.8 (even). On Sunday, Syracuse-Louisville (1.0, -17%) and Wisconsin-Michigan State (1.2, -20%) dropped double-digits from last year.
