After a week off, the Premier League returned with middling numbers last weekend.
Last Saturday’s Watford-West Ham English Premier League match score a 0.5 final rating and 709,000 viewers on the NBC broadcast network, up 67% in ratings and 70% in viewership from Chelsea-Newcastle on NBCSN last year (0.3, 450K) but down 8% and 16% respectively from Manchester City-Newcastle on NBC in 2015 (0.5, 844K).
Watford’s win delivered the smallest EPL audience on NBC since November 19, when Tottenham-West Ham had 642,000. Overall, it ranks as the fifth-least watched of NBC’s 18 windows thus far.
In other action, Chelsea-Swansea City had a 0.3 and 422,000 earlier Saturday morning — flat in ratings and down 5% in viewership from Everton-WEst Brom last year (0.3, 445K) and flat and down 15% respectively from Chelsea-Burnley in 2015 (0.3, 498K). Crystal Palace-Middlesbrough had 67,000 in the same window on CNBC, down 60% from Norwich City-West Ham on USA Network last year (166K).
Wrapping up the week’s slate, Tottenham-Stoke City had a 0.2 (-33%) and 354,000 (-25%) on Sunday and Leicester City-Liverpool had 226,000 on Monday.
