Ratings have increased nearly 50% for the New York Mets. In other news, Cubs ratings are actually down on CSN Chicago — though with some caveats — and the NFL schedule release was less of a draw on ESPN and NFL Network.
Mets Ratings Up 43% on SNY
- Through 11 telecasts, New York Mets Major League Baseball games have averaged a 3.72 rating on SportsNet New York — up 43% from the comparable period last year (2.61). As previously noted, the early season has included the Mets’ highest rating on SNY since 2009 and the team’s highest opening day rating since 2008. (SNY)
Cubs Ratings Down on CSN, With Caveats
- Chicago Cubs games have averaged a 3.6 rating on Comcast SportsNet Chicago through Wednesday, down 16% from the comparable period last year (4.3). Keep in mind CSN has aired just seven of the defending champions’ first 15 games, with three of those seven on weekday afternoons. (CSN)
NFL Schedule Release Down on ESPN, NFL Network
- Coverage of the NFL schedule release combined for 413,000 viewers across ESPN and NFL Network Thursday night, with both networks posting declines from last year. ESPN drew 227,000 for a SportsCenter special, down 36% from last year on ESPN and ESPN2 (353K) and down 34% from 2015 on ESPN alone (342K). An NFL Network special had 186,000, down 9% from last year (204K) but up 45% from 2015 (128K), both of which lasted one extra hour.
